Meeting for worship

Friends Meeting House, Wokingham

We extend a warm welcome to all members, visitors or enquirers. Our main meeting for worship is at 10.30 am every Sunday. It lasts an hour, and is mainly silent worship although people may stand and speak if moved to do so. Young people of all ages are always welcome, but a dedicated Children’s Meeting is normally held on the fourth Sunday of each month at the same time as the main meeting. The children join the main meeting for the last five minutes or so and usually tell the main meeting about their activities. The end of the meeting is signalled by members shaking hands. The clerk will then give notices, welcome newcomers and enquire about the wellbeing of sick or absent Friends. A collection box is available for contributions to the named charity of the month. Contributions are entirely voluntary. After the meeting, tea, coffee and soft drinks are served at no charge and Friends are available to talk to you if you have any questions.

Access

There is disabled access to the meeting house, a disabled toilet and a hearing loop. Contact us (see below) if you have any specific access requirements.

Room hire

The main meeting room and the young persons’ room are available for hire at a modest cost. The young persons’ room is located separately in the garden. To hire a room or to make enquiries about availability please contact the warden (see below). We reserve the right to decline a request to hire our premises from groups or individuals whose activities do not, in our opinion, accord with Quaker principles.
